Guide us toward a potential Kappa

We want to know if there’s an outstanding woman who would make a great Kappa. Tell us about her by using Kappa’s online reference system. Only members of Kappa Kappa Gamma may submit a reference. If you are an undergraduate member, your reference must be for a potential new member at a different school than where you attend.

To submit a reference visit www.kappa.org/references and log in. The online system submits references directly to the Membership Team.

We appreciate your help in building the future of Kappa.

Recruitment

Reference Chairman: Kristin Carmichael

The Reference Committee for the Fort Worth Kappa Kappa Alumnae Association works to ensure that PNMs (Potential New Members) from Fort Worth high schools have a Kappa recommendation for the college/university they are attending. We are transitioning this year to an online reference system, while continuing to support those recommendations with letters of support. See below for details on how the process will work for 2021-2022

Please contact Kristin Carmichael, Reference Chair (carmichael_kristin@hotmail.com) or fwkappareference@gmail.com  with any additional questions.

I'm planning to write a Recruitment reference. Where do I begin?

Use Kappa's new online reference system - Only members of Kappa Kappa Gamma may submit a reference.  If you are an undergraduate member, your reference must be for a potential new member (PNM) at a different school other than where you attend.  To submit an online recommendation, go to the Kappa website — www.kappakappagamma.org —  and log-in with your unique username and password. You will complete one form per potential new member. Once the form is complete and you’ve attached a photo, you will save and submit the form.  The reference is sent directly to the university she is attending. During the summer, the Reference  Committee is in communication with the Kappa chapters that our Fort Worth women are considering  for membership — which is why we need those packets! If you choose to write a letter of support, please  mail it directly to the chapter.

As the reference writer, you are responsible for:

      --Completing the online reference form.

--Collecting the contents of your PNM's packet, including her resume, letters of support and photos.

--Delivering the completed PNM packet to the appropriate Reference Committee school chair by July 1. Include a note confirming your submission of the online reference.

--Make yourself aware of the Recruitment Rules to ensure compliance among our association during the recruitment period.

What if my PNM is undecided on her college choice?

If your PNM has not made her college decision before the July 1 deadline, please deliver the packet to Kristin Carmichael, then notify us as soon as a final decision has been made.

What if my PNM is going through Deferred Recruitment?

Deferred Recruitment is conducted at a number of schools across the country. Even though Formal  Recruitment for those schools doesn’t take place until the spring, many schools host Open House events  in the fall. These events give PNMs and actives an opportunity to get to know one another, and they  utilize information from their recommendations during that time.

What Advice Should I Give a PNM?

Please remember that the recruitment of new members is a process, and the ultimate  decision to offer membership is left to the active members of each chapter. The best  advice you can give your daughter, granddaughter, niece, or friend, is to go through  recruitment with an open mind, and to enjoy the process. The ultimate goal is for HER  to find HER home at HER university!

How can I support Kappa Recruitment for Fort Worth?

For many years, alumnae have generously and graciously made donations of various amounts to help defray the costs of copying and mailing references. Donations also pay for “Kappa notepads” sent to all in-state chapters and those out-of-state chapters where a legacy is a PNM. These gifts are well-received and have been an effective way to promote our Fort Worth girls.

If you would like to make a contribution, it will greatly be appreciated.  You may mail your check made payable to KKG to Kristin Carmichael - Recruitment Chair, 6701 Ashbrook Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76132.

Thank you for your support of our Fort Worth PNMs!
